Sensors used in converters, transformers, and traction control

Baumer sensors are used at multiple points in traction control. A high-quality speed signal optimizes energy consumption. Speed measurement at the wheel axle reduces the adverse effects of gear backlash, flexibility, and non-linear effects. Precise differential pressure measurement provides reliable information about coolant flow rate.

Applications

Coolant flow monitoring

Coolant Flow Rate

Monitoring coolant flow rate is critical for the safe and reliable operation of the traction chain. In many applications, differential pressure measurement at the inlet and outlet enables the reliable determination of coolant flow rate. The advantage of using a flow sensor is that a single sensor is sufficient and includes temperature measurement, offering benefits in integration cost and system design.

Pressure sensor

  • Low temperature drift for precise measurement from ramp-up to full-load operation
  • Usable at process and ambient temperatures up to 125 °C in nearly all liquid cooling circuits

Flow sensor

  • Reliable, rugged calorimetric measuring method
  • Mounting-position-independent measurement
  • Integrated threshold generation on the flow value
  • Integrated temperature sensor
