Precision for optimum evaporation performance
Our technologically advanced sensor solutions provide precise, repeatable measurement values for your evaporation process. This allows you to boost your competitiveness through the highest process performance and consistently high product quality.
Long-standing industry experience for uninterrupted operation
Our sensors, hygienically designed and built for robustness, operate reliably in demanding evaporator environments and other harsh conditions. This ensures uninterrupted production with minimum downtime, without compromising food safety.
Real-time monitoring for stable production conditions
Fast, repeatable measurement results allow you to maintain the precise process balance in your evaporator. This delivers a stable product concentration, maximum production uptime and minimum product loss.
Evaporators concentrate liquid food products by exploiting the lower boiling point of water under partial vacuum. They require precise, reliable process control to maintain a delicate system balance. Smart sensors monitor critical parameters such as pressure, temperature, flow rate and conductivity. This allows process parameters to be optimally adjusted to ensure a stable concentration, maximum yield and minimum thermal damage. The result is high product quality and an energy-efficient operation with lower operating costs.
Balance tank level monitoring
Ensure an uninterrupted product feed for continuous operation of the evaporator and downstream processes.
- Material-independent detection of high and low limit levels, combined with continuous fill level measurement (limit levels, continuous fill level)
- Ability to buffer short, unplanned stoppages of individual units so that the whole line keeps running uninterrupted
- Overflow and dry-run protection to minimize product losses and prevent equipment damage
Pre-conditioning and heat recovery monitoring
Ensure uniform, sufficient pre-heating of the product for evaporation using heat exchangers, and efficient heat recovery from the concentrate, vapor and condensate.
- Monitor temperature, pressure and flow rates for a controlled pre-heating process and, if necessary, to pasteurize the product before evaporation (temperature, pressure, flow)
- Increase energy efficiency through maximum heat recovery and adequate cooling of the concentrate
Feeding of evaporator effects
Ensure a stable product feed for uniform falling-film formation and efficient evaporation.
- Control flow to prevent overflow or film breakage with dry spots and fouling, which would reduce evaporation efficiency and require early cleaning (Flow)
- Monitor temperature to provide a slightly superheated product, facilitating instant partial evaporation via DSI if needed and even product distribution (temperature)
- Monitor product concentration using conductivity sensors before entering the first effect and throughout the evaporation process (conductivity sensors)
Evaporation control within effects
Ensure consistent product concentration and minimum thermal damage through continuous, energy-efficient evaporation in the falling tubes and by detecting fouling.
- Monitor absolute pressure to control water's boiling point for stable evaporation rates and operation across all effects (absolute pressure)
- Monitor the increasing vacuum to use the vapor as a heating medium in the subsequent effect
- Monitor differential pressure along the falling tubes to detect fouling and blockages, adjust product feed and determine the optimum cleaning time (differential pressure)
- Measure the temperature profile with temperature sensors for optimum heat transfer and evaporation (temperature sensors)
Vapor separation monitoring
Ensure the best possible concentrate-vapor separation in the separator with minimum energy loss.
- Pressure sensors monitor the differential pressure between the effect and separator to create sufficient suction for centrifugal product-vapor separation (Pressure sensors)
- Monitor temperature to minimize vapor condensation, prevent concentrate dilution and maximize latent heat transfer to the next effect (temperature)
Level monitoring in concentrate vessels
Ensure stable, uninterrupted operation across all effects by monitoring fill levels in the concentrate collection vessels beneath each effect and separator.
- Detection of high and low limit levels combined with continuous fill level measurement for optimum performance and feeding of the next effect and separator (limit levels, continuous fill level)
Quality control in the concentrate flow
Ensure the desired total solids content is consistently achieved for subsequent downstream processes.
- Monitoring of final total solids content using conductivity measurement for optimum adjustment of process parameters (conductivity measurement)
- Temperature measurement to minimize thermal damage to the product for energy-efficient operation and as a correction factor for conductivity measurement (Temperature measurement)
- Monitoring of flow rate as a basis for mass balance and feeding downstream processes (flow rate)
Thermal Vapor Recompression (TVR) monitoring
Ensure sufficient energy supply through the addition of heating steam to the first effect, achieving the desired evaporation without excessive thermal damage in the evaporator.
- Monitoring of pressure and temperature before and after the steam jet ejector to ensure sufficient thermal vapor recompression (pressure, temperature)
Vapor condensation and condensate handling monitoring
Ensure sufficient condensation and effective drainage of condensate, together with quality monitoring, to maintain the required steam pressure gradient in the evaporator.
- Monitor pressure and temperature in the steam-side sections of the evaporator, as well as the flow rate and temperature of the condensate. Sufficient condensate formation is required to maintain the vacuum inside the evaporator (pressure, temperature, flow rate)
- Measurement of conductivity in the condensate to ensure condensate purity, as an indicator of leaks in the effects and product carryover in vapors from separators (conductivity)
