Sensor Cleaning in Baumer VCXG Cameras [AN201706]
Baumer cameras: VCXx
This document describes the cleaning procedure for Baumer VCXG / VCXU cameras.
Tools and Cleaners
We recommend using these tools and materials for camera sensor cleaning:
- A sensor-sized rectangular spatula with burr-free edges
- Lint-free cleaning cloth
- A suitable detergent such as methanol or glass cleaner
- Oil-free compressed air (optional)

How To
First, the cleaning cloth should be wrapped around the spatula and moistened with detergent.

To remove dust and other dirt particles, the cleaning tool must lie flat and upright on the sensor cover glass.

Best cleaning results can be achieved by wiping the sensor cover glass from top to bottom in one continuous motion.

note
The sensor seal is not resistant to methanol, so do not leave it in contact with methanol for long periods of time or in large amounts.
Cleaning Alternatives
To remove loose particles, the use of oil-free compressed air may be an option.

note
Compressed air can cause the sealant and filter bracket to dislodge. Make sure they are both positioned correctly.
