Baumer GAPI SDK for Linux Ubuntu 16.04 with NVIDIA Jetson TX1 [AN201701]
NVIDIA Jetson TX1 Baumer GAPI SDK – Linux Ubuntu Baumer GigE Industrial Cameras
This document describes how to set up the NVIDIA Jetson TX1, an ARM-based single-board computer for use with Baumer Industrial Cameras.
Technical Background
Jetson TX1 is a single-board computer with an ARM-based central processing unit (CPU). It has a quad-core CPU based on ARM Cortex A57 64-bit architecture. It also integrates a graphics processing unit (GPU) based on NVIDIA Kepler architecture. Jetson TX1 supports Gigabit Ethernet with support for Jumbo Frames and data rates up to 1 Gbit/s, as well as USB 3.0 with data rates up to 5 Gbit/s.
getting started
Installing a New Operating System on NVIDIA Jetson TX1
A host computer with a Linux operating system (only Ubuntu 16.04, supported by NVIDIA) is required to install a new operating system on the NVIDIA Jetson TX1. For the Baumer GAPI SDK to work, it is necessary to install the Linux operating system version for Tegra R24.2.1 on the Jetson TX1.
First, download the Driver Package and Sample File System from the link below:
Then follow the guide on the NVIDIA website to install the new operating system:
note
Please refer to the Installation Guide for Linux for information on how to connect a camera, capture images, and create an application.
Baumer GAPI SDK Installation
To install the Baumer GAPI SDK, download the Jetson TX1 software package from the website. You can download the software package directly to the Jetson TX1 by connecting to the internet. Then, install the software using the Linux terminal. Change to the directory where the downloaded file is located (for example:/home/user/Downloads).
The filename is as follows:baumer-gapi-sdk-linux-v2.7.xxxxx-Ubuntu-16.04-arm64.deb [1]
Run the following command to start the installation:
sudo dpkg -i baumer-gapi-sdk-linux-v2.7.xxxxx-Ubuntu-16.04-arm64.deb[1]
[1] xxxxxis a version number.
GigE Performance
Onboard GigE Ethernet Adapter
The onboard GigE Ethernet Adapter has a lower level of performance because it is implemented via a USB3 hub.
When using this adapter, it is recommended to use a larger packet delay to avoid corrupted frames.
Ethernet Adapter Via PCIe
For best Ethernet performance, it is recommended to use the PCIe bus of the TX1 card. In this case, a lower packet delay can be used to avoid garbled frames.
