Installation of Flow Meters
Mounting Requirements
When mounting the flow sensor on a higher-end machine, the following points regarding the mounting location should be taken into account:
- The flow sensor must not be exposed to excessive vibrations at the mounting location.
- The mounting location must allow for proper grounding of the flow sensor.
- The mounting location must ensure proper electrical connection of the flow sensor.
For other important installation requirements, please refer to the user manual. It is available in the product download section.
Mounting Position of Flow Sensor
Before installing the flow sensor, the flow direction at the installation site must be determined. The flow direction in the flow sensor is indicated on the nameplate. The flow direction is defined as follows:
- Positive Flow Direction: – to +
- Negative Flow Direction: + to –

Change in Flow Direction
If the flow direction changes for system-related reasons, there is no need to disassemble the flow sensor. Only the plus/minus signs of the KA parameters in the BCP operating software must be changed.
When the flow sensor is installed in a piping system, inlet and outlet paths must be included. This compensates for interference from curves, valves, pumps, throttles and the like. Locking and adjusting elements should never be located directly in front of the flow sensor.
Example:

The following points must be observed regarding the mounting position of the flow sensor:
The flow sensor must be installed in such a way that the measuring pipe is always completely full.

When the flow sensor is mounted vertically, mounting in a rising pipe is preferred. Contact us if necessary before mounting the sensor on a descending pipe.

Use anti-vibration compensators when installing flow sensors in long pipes.

Curves, valves, constrictions, etc. Observe the inlet and outlet paths when installing the flow sensor before or after.

The following mounting positions should be avoided:

Do not install directly in front of a downpipe.

Do not install on a downpipe.

Do not install directly in front of a pipe outlet.

Do not install on the inlet side of a pump.

Do not install at the highest point of a piping system.
Commissioning
All system parameters must be set before commissioning. The flow meter can be configured and operated via the BCP operating software or the display for PF75H/S versions. The functions and settings are the same and both menus have a similar structure.
